Quotes of the Days

Connor discovered biomechanics while biting into an apple: Daddy, my teeth are a digger.

Looking at a Henry Moore at the Botanical Gardens yesterday, Connor observed: That statue has a hole in it.

Eoin seems to have got to grips with the idea of moving to London now he's aware he won't miss any Kindergarten. During a conversation yesterday about rats, mice and roaches, I told him it's rare to see a roach in a house in London. He suggested we wouldn't need the can of roach spray there, and I agreed we could leave it behind. But he's not taking any chances: I think just in case, you'd better bring it.

I've been remiss about these of late but here is a gem.

Connor, explaining why he was standing on one leg: I'm the one-legged Statue of Liberty.

Recital

Addendum from Claire: Eoin conducted himself with aplomb throughout while Connor was a bit trickier. He refused to wear a smarter polo shirt at home, wailing that he wanted his Prague T-shirt, hence the slightly mismatched outfit. He refused to play when we got there, then agreed to the bribe and went to sit and wait his turn at the front, then started to cry so I had to go get him, then having been reminded of the bribe cheerfully marched up to the front and got on with it. You may be thinking he is too young for this kind of thing and I'm inclined to agree, but if he'd been told it was just Eoin he would have been upset. The trials of being a second child.

PIANO RECITAL

Eoin and Connor perform at Jazz at Lincoln Center with their school's piano program. Several schools in northern Manhattan partake in the Piano School of New York City's program and then put on a performance for the parents. Performance is regarded as a very important part of the child's development and our lads did really well. We were utterly delighted at the whole thing. Connor had to be bribed with a chocolate biscuit, however, but then had a great time in the limelight while he played Hot Cross Buns.

Eoin finished up his performance of One, Two - Buckle My Shoe with a rather comical bow which brought a laugh from the audience.

Quotes of the days

While Paul has been away:

Connor: Teddy misses Daddy

Eoin, after I reminded him Paul was coming home tomorrow and sang 'there's always tomorrow' to him: There isn't a tomorrow if you die.

A few minutes after the above quote: Mummy, I don't know how to thank you for all the beautiful things you do.
